The Schild Estate 2006 Barossa Shiraz is another fine example of a classic regional style from this renowned area and the Barossa regionality shows through at its best in this wine. It is a true expression of generous Barossa Shiraz. The fruit for this wine was sourced from our Angus Brae vineyard in the Barossas cool south. The 2006 vintage had a long and cool ripening period with temperatures mainly in the high 20 degreeā(tm)s celcius, which created perfect conditions to ripen the fruit.
This Shiraz was harvested, crushed, de-stemmed and moved to open fermenters to extract full colour and flavour. After extended maturation in selected new and aged American oak adding complexity and structure, this wine was then sent to bottle in September 2007, with minimal filtering. A Shiraz with great presence and lingering flavours, truly a most enjoyable premium Barossa wine.
