Domaine des Forges Coteaux Du Layon Chaume 1er Cru 2020

Always a long-lived, luscious, barrel aged wine with high levels of residual sugar. Exuberant and moreish. There are notes of tarte tartin, marmalade and barley sugar. The flavour builds to a place of real intensity which is balanced by beautiful, refined acidity. 

Domaine des Forges is a historic wine estate situated south of Savennieries in the Val du Layon /Loire Valley that has been in the Branchereau family for five generations. It was founded in 1890 by Pierre Robineau, a grocer and merchant, who bought 2 ha of vineyard called “le Clos des Forges”. The estate now has almost 47 ha of vines, with Chenin Blanc as the main variety.
